The travel and tours structure has been introduced for a number of important reasons and for the benefit of the BMX community, as outlined below. It will also ensure that BMX Australia is able to deliver on host council and sponsor contractual obligations. This funding is essential if we are to continue to find host city partners willing to invest in National Championships in future years.
Events Worldwide will hold a comprehensive bed bank - which will ensure over the coming months that their are enough rooms in Shepparton and surrounding towns to hold the necessary volume expected for the 2010 BMX Nationals, when patrons get around to booking their accommodation. There are limited choices for accommodation in Shepparton and the region, and by introducing this travel and tours structure, the council are able to ensure that we secure as many rooms as we can for BMX purposes. Otherwise, over time it is likely that the hotels will fill up with other business, including sporting groups, wedding parties, corporate - which could ultimately mean that no options are available as the event gets closer. Some of the properties are already booked out now with other business.
By calling Events Worldwide or the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre you eliminate the time and pain out of sourcing suitable accommodation - they do that for you , they have also seen the properties so you know what standard you are getting at the time of booking. It takes the risk out of arriving and finding out that it is of an unsatisfactory standard. Events Worldwide can also help you with flights, car hire, insurance - essentially provide a one stop travel shop.
It is not uncommon for hotels to charge 'peak' tariffs for major events, therefore with Events Worldwide's involvement, and the support of the Greater Shepparton City Council, we are endeavouring to ensure that 'acceptable' rates are being offered by all accommodation properties.
It is possible to register your requirements for accommodation NOW and within 10-14 days a complete list of hotels, room types and tariffs will be available through Events Worldwide or the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre. Requests are already being received by Events Worldwide and the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre, so the earlier you register your interest, the better chance you have of securing the accommodation that suits your needs.
The dates will be announced at the end of May when sufficient rooms have been sourced and the council are confident that we have enough inventory to cater for the needs of visitors intending to visit Shepparton for the BMX Nationals.
